Born in Mantua in 1970, he began taking pictures at the age of nine, with a camera given to him as a gift for his first communion.
Between 1988 and 1991 he worked for Nuova ERI Edizioni RAI magazines Moda and King.
In 1994 he opened in Mantua hiw own studio, "Colors Produzioni Visive" and two years later began working with the Gazzetta di Mantova. His work with the local newspaper gave Giglioli experience in the field of photo reportage.
In 1998 he started working with the Italian editorial office of National Geographic.
In April 2000 he was invited to display his works in the prestigious Palazzo dell'Arengario in Milan, at the exhibition "Dancing Through Time". The publishing house Motta, created a book about it.
For the Belfiore Martyrs commemoration held in Mantua in 2002, Giglioli was commissioned to make a reportage, which later became a book, about the presence of the President of the Italian Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi at the event.
